  • I Have Loved @ Shanghai

I Have Loved, the first feature-length film by Elizabeth Wijaya and Lai Weijie has been selected for the Asian New Talent Awards at the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival.

Shot in Siem Reap, the film follows Marie, a young woman, haunted by loss and the imperfections of memory. Above all, the film is a love note to Cambodia.

Starring Glen Goei with two emerging actors, Eryn Tett and Amarin Cholvibul, the film is also a Singapore-Malaysia-Cambodia collaboration with a cast and crew that hail from France, England, Russia, Korea and Thailand.

Elizabeth Wijaya, graduated with First Class Honours in English Literature from NUS and will be pursuing a PhD in Comparative Literature at Cornell University. Lai Weijie is from the pioneer batch of M.F.A. (directing) graduates from NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia and a co-producer on Homecoming, which made more than S$3 million in Singapore and Malaysia. Both directors will be in Shanghai to present the film.

I Have Loved is produced by E&W Films and 13 Little Pictures, a film collective bound by the spirit of collaboration and shared hope of creating films with unique directorial visions. Following Red Dragonflies by Liao Jiekai, this is also the second film from 13 Little Pictures that is competing at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

Thanks to the MDA Market Assistance Grant, both directors will be in Shanghai to present the film. Apart from presenting I Have Loved, Weijie will also be at the Co-production Film Pitch and Catch at the Shanghai Film Market with a new project No Regrets! that he is producing for another first-time filmmaker Tan Shijie.
