Flooding in a Time of Drought
︎︎︎Trailer︎SYNOPSIS
What if Singapore’s water supply suddenly runs dry?
This docu-narrative fusion depicts the lives of foreign immigrants as they face an impending water crisis. Amidst this drought, a cast of non-professional actors grapple with their foibles, fantasies, and broken romances.
Touching on issues as diverse as ethnic discrimination, ritual beliefs, World War II, and racial tensions in post-’97 riots Indonesia, the film explores how ingrained problems are transported along with migrant communities.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
This film is really close to my heart as it reflects the DNA of the country where people from around Southeast Asia flock to Singapore to find a better life. Their successes and failures, laughter and heartaches are usually hidden behind the highly built, modern and clean facade of the urban environment.
Sitting in the centre of the Malay World (Nusantara), Singapore is a CITY for Southeast Asia offering security, stability and hope for those willing to take the challenge and give an ‘offering’ in return for material wealth and ‘happiness’.
