Sherman Ong
︎BIOGRAPHY
Sherman Ong is a filmmaker, photographer and visual artist. His practice has always centred on the human condition and our relationships with others within the larger milieu. Sherman Ong is the director of BETOK (HAF 2010, Hubert Bals Fund award), MEMORIES OF A BURNING TREE (Rotterdam), FLOODING IN THE TIME OF DROUGHT (Centre Pompidou Paris), HASHI (Best Script, Singapore Film Awards) and TICKETS (Venice Biennale).
Winner of the Prudential Eye Awards 2015 for Photography and the ICON de Martell Cordon Bleu Photography Award 2010, Sherman has premiered works in Art Biennales, Film Festivals and Museums around the world. He was part of the Singapore Pavilion 2009 which garnered a Special Mention at the Venice Biennale. He was a Finalist of the Sovereign Asian Art Award 2016 and a part of the exhibition SUNSHOWER: Contemporary Art from Southeast Asia (1980s to Now).
